Police are searching for the suspect of a deadly targeted shooting incident that occurred Monday in Huntington Station.

Suffolk police confirmed one person was targeted and killed behind One Stop Deli & Gyro on West Pulaski Road around 4 p.m.

When police arrived, they found an adult man with a gunshot wound and took him to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police had part of the road taped off, a police helicopter was seen overhead and a K-9 unit was on the ground sweeping the area.

Detectives were back on scene on Tuesday investigating the deli, neighborhoods and nearby businesses.

News 12 talked with the owner of the deli, who says he wasn't there, but some of his employees were.

"Of course we get nervous. This is very big that happened but people who work here are scared and nervous," says owner Mohammad Afzaal. "The inside guy called me and said someone got shot at the store.”

Afazaal says he was shocked.

"I'm here in this business almost 18 years and we never had that happen," he says.

The scene is just blocks away from two schools. The Huntington School District canceled all evening activities and programs in response.
